Frequently Asked Questions About Emergency Electrician Services

Got questions? Find your answers quickly in our handy FAQ section below.

We aim to have an electrician on-site within 60 minutes of your call across most Sydney metro areas. Response times may vary slightly for outer suburbs or during peak periods, but we’ll always give you an honest ETA when you call.

Yes, emergency call-outs do carry a fee that reflects the after-hours nature of the service. We’ll always be upfront about pricing before any work begins — no surprises on the invoice. Call us to discuss your situation and we’ll give you a clear picture before we dispatch.

Yes. Every electrician at AP Electrical Group is fully licensed under NSW regulations and the business carries full insurance. You’re protected on every job, whether it’s a routine repair or a 3am emergency.

An electrical emergency is any situation that poses an immediate risk to safety or property. This includes: complete power outages, exposed or sparking wires, burning smells from outlets or switchboards, frequent circuit breaker trips, flickering lights across multiple circuits, and any suspected electrical fire. If you’re unsure, call us — we’ll help you assess it.

If it’s safe to do so, switch off the main breaker at your switchboard. Don’t use any affected outlets or switches. If there’s smoke, a burning smell, or any sign of fire, evacuate immediately and call 000 first. Keep the area clear and have someone available to let the electrician in on arrival.

Yes. We handle emergency electrical work for homes, rental properties, strata buildings, retail premises, warehouses, and commercial offices across Sydney. The same 24/7 availability applies regardless of property type.

Yes, all our repair work is backed by a workmanship warranty. Any products or parts installed also carry the relevant manufacturer’s warranty.

After-hours and emergency call-outs do carry a higher rate than standard business-hours work, which is standard across the industry. That said, we’re transparent about costs upfront and will never start work without your approval. For non-urgent issues, we’ll always let you know if it can wait until business hours to save you money.

Our electricians follow all NSW WorkSafe protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment on every job. Before starting any work, they’ll assess the site, isolate the affected circuit, and ensure the area is safe. We don’t cut corners — especially on emergency jobs where safety is already compromised.

Warning signs to watch for include: frequently tripping circuit breakers, flickering or dimming lights, outlets that are warm to the touch, a burning or fishy smell near electrical fittings, buzzing sounds from the switchboard, and lights that flicker when appliances are turned on. If you notice any of these, call us before it escalates.

Do not attempt to use water on an electrical fire. Evacuate the building immediately and call 000. If the switchboard is safely accessible and it’s safe to do so, switch off the main breaker before leaving. Once everyone is safe and the fire brigade has attended, call us — we can assess the damage and make the property electrically safe before re-entry.
