EV Charger Installation Sydney

Going electric? We'll get you charging at home — properly wired, up to code, and ready from day one.

More Sydney homes are switching to electric vehicles and a standard power point isn’t built for the job. AP Electrical Group installs dedicated home EV chargers for Sydney homeowners, with licensed electricians who know the work inside and out. Whether you’ve already got your charger or need help choosing one, we’ll have you set up and charging efficiently in no time.

Our experience

Why a Dedicated Charger Beats the Power Point

Plenty of EV owners start out plugging into a standard 10A outlet. It works — but it's slow, it's hard on your wiring, and it's not what your car was designed for. Here's why a proper installation is worth it.

Charge Faster

A standard power point gives you roughly 15km of range per hour. A dedicated Level 2 charger delivers 40–80km per hour — so you wake up to a full charge, not a half-full one.

Safer for Your Home

Standard power points aren't designed for sustained high-draw loads. Running an EV charger through one puts strain on your wiring and creates a fire risk over time. A dedicated circuit, installed properly, eliminates that risk.

Works With Any EV

Whether you drive a Tesla, BYD, Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, or any other make — we install the right charger for your vehicle. No brand lock-in, no compatibility headaches.

Cheaper to Run

Charging at home on off-peak rates is significantly cheaper than public charging. A proper home setup makes it easy to schedule overnight charging and keep your running costs down.

Adds Value to Your Home

EV charging capability is increasingly on the checklist for Sydney home buyers. A professionally installed charger is a practical upgrade that holds its value.

Inclusions

What's Included in Our EV Charger Installation

We handle the whole job, from assessing your switchboard to mounting the charger and issuing your Certificate of Compliance. Here’s what to expect.

Step 1
Site Assessment & Quote

We visit your property, assess your switchboard capacity, identify the best location for your charger, and give you a fixed quote upfront — no guesswork, no surprises on the day.

Step 2
Switchboard Check (& Upgrade if Needed)

Your switchboard needs spare capacity to support a dedicated high-power circuit. If yours doesn’t have it, we’ll handle the upgrade as part of the same job, no need to book a separate tradie.

Step 3
Dedicated Circuit Installation

Every EV charger needs its own dedicated circuit. We run a clean, code-compliant line from your switchboard to the charger location, properly sized for the load.

Step 4
Charger Mounting & Connection

We mount your charger in the right spot — garage wall, carport, or exterior and connect it up properly. Tidy cable runs, no exposed wiring, finished properly.

Step 5
Testing & Certification

We test the full setup before we leave and issue a Certificate of Compliance for the electrical work, as required by NSW law for all new electrical installations.

We work with all major EV charger brands including Zappi, EVSE, Wallbox, and Tesla Wall Connector. Already purchased your charger? Just let us know the model and we'll confirm compatibility before the job.

Single Phase vs Three Phase Callout

Most Sydney homes run single-phase power, which is perfectly suited to a Level 2 home EV charger. If your home has three-phase power, you may have options for faster charging. We'll advise during your assessment.

Panos installed new down lights, fans and fire alarms across my entire house. He even fixed my switch board all for a very competitive price. His team took their time and did everything thoroughly. I would use AP for all my electrical needs moving forward!

EV Charger Installation: Common Questions

Most home installations in Sydney cost between $1,500 and $2,500, depending on the charger type, its distance from your switchboard, and whether your switchboard needs upgrading. We provide a fixed quote after the site assessment — no ballpark estimates, no surprises.

Most residential EV charger installs are completed within a day. If your switchboard needs upgrading at the same time, allow a little extra time — we’ll give you a clear timeframe when we quote.

You can supply your own charger, or we can source one for you. Either way, we confirm compatibility before the job starts. If you’re unsure what charger suits your vehicle, we’re happy to advise.

We work with most major brands — Zappi, EVSE, Wallbox, Tesla Wall Connector, and others. If you’ve already purchased a charger, just send through the model and we’ll confirm it’s compatible with your home’s power supply.

Not always. We assess your switchboard as part of the site visit. If it has the capacity to support a dedicated circuit, no upgrade is needed. If it doesn’t, we’ll let you know upfront and factor it into the quote.

Yes. All electrical work in NSW requires a Certificate of Compliance to be issued by the licensed electrician who completed the work. We include this as standard — you don’t need to chase it separately.

We install EV chargers across Sydney — inner west, eastern suburbs, north shore, south Sydney, and western Sydney. Check our service area page to confirm availability in your area.
